I'm going to restore a pair of factory Valencia crossovers and these are the type where the components are mounted on the back of a black board with no rear cover.
Anyway, the old iron core inductors are attached to the back of the crossover face with aluminum rivets that go through to the front of the crossover face.
Since I plan to use new air core wound inductors, I was planning to leave the old iron core inductors and rivets on the board so it appears from the outside of the cab that everything is original and the rivets and inductors have not been altered.
Question: Will the magnets in the old iron core inductors interfere (change the values) of the new air core inductors and, if yes, will this require the removal of the old iron core inductors and rivets?
Should the two new air inductors be mounted at right angles to each other or is it OK to mount them side-to-side?
...there is a lot of "hype" on this stuff that I have read and I'm not sure if it is just that.
Thx...
